Another great visit to TCM
On Tuesday 23 April, TCM had the pleasure of receiving a visit from the Minister for Climate and Environment, Andreas Bjelland Eriksen. He is responsible for ensuring the government’s overall climate and environmental policy.
On the slightly cloudy day, CEO Muhammad Ismail Shah welcomed the Minister of Climate and Environment, Andreas Bjelland Eriksen to the Technology Centre in Mongstad. Also in the entourage was the Mayor of Alver Municipality, Sara Hamre Sekkingstad and the Mayor for Austrheim, Morten Sognnes. Earlier in the day, they visited the Mongstad refinery and received an introduction to Mongstad Industrial Transformation (MIT).
TCM an important part of the green transition
“Here at TCM, we test and verify carbon capture technology in a unique environment where knowledge sharing and advice are paramount,” said TCM’s CEO. “After more than 12 years of operation, we can look back on a wide range of major international technology suppliers who have come here to test and learn. TCM is an attractive location thanks to its unique and flexible infrastructure and world-leading expertise. Our offering is essential in a global context.
Shah added that it is a great tribute to the knowledge environment at Mongstad that several of the major technology developers come back once or twice to de-risk the technology before it can be put into industrial use. – All the major technology suppliers that have tested at TCM are now conducting feed studies and are ready to offer their technology to various projects around the world. The Longship project is one such example, as Heidelberg Materials has chosen to use Aker Carbon Capture’s TCM-tested technology.
For a better climate
The Minister for Climate and Environment was very engaged during the tour of TCM and asked many relevant questions. At the end of the visit, he thanked the Minister for having gained a better understanding of CO2 capture and how this climate measure could make a difference for the industry in the world. Bjelland Eriksen expressed that he is impressed by the work being carried out at TCM and said that he will promote the activities that are taking place with great professional breadth at the Mongstad site.
